This summer I photographed on assignment in Peru and Guatemala for Blue Moon Clothing featuring the hand crafted designs of indigenous women from Pucallpa, Peru and Weaving Women (weavingwomen.org), an organization dedicated to the practices of indigenous weavers of Guatemala. In both experiences I was privileged to witness the skill and craftsmanship of indigenous textile making as demonstrated by the women who made it. Living in the United States, where we’re far removed from the clothes that we buy, it was a rewarding experience to witness this sustainable and homegrown practice.

Uncovered Reminders: A Group Photography Exhibition

Sept. 12- Oct. 14, 2009

Opening reception:
Friday, September 18, 2009 from 7-10 p.m.
Blue Six Acoustic Room, 3043 24th Street, San Francisco, CA

The photography collective CreativeMinds have a group exhibition that questions their personal histories through images of transcendence.

How can a mystical experience be found in modern life? The artists explore significant places of their own personal histories to search for deeper layers as they begin to be unfolded. Through memories and imagination, the creative passion for magic in the everyday can be found through our captured sight. The photographs suggests that they’re may be more than what meets the everyday eye.

CreativeMinds is a photography collective founded by alumni of California College of the Arts. The Blue Six Acoustic Room is a music venue that accompanies art exhibitions; it’s a meeting place for both artists and musicians. At the exhibition opening there will be live musical performances by Roberto Miguel (Miguel from Oakland) and Matt Adams from The Blank Tapes.
